Stay On-The-Mind in The Holiday Chaos

Unless you are selling physical goods or are a nonprofit, one of the HARDEST seasons of the year is the holiday season. If you sell a physical item or are a nonprofit, this blog is not for you. This is for the rest of us. Let’s unwrap why that is and how to keep your audience active during the busiest time of the year.

No matter what holiday you or your audience celebrates, you can bet November & December are busy times! Buying gifts for family and friends, watching all of the cheesy movies, exploring the outdoor extravaganzas, these are some of the things that people are doing this time of year that can distract from YOUR marketing. There are so many distractions on every platform it is hard to stay relevant and not get lost in the mix.

So how do you stay “remembered” this time of year? There are a few approaches to try. And I would suggest you try a few.

  1. Take the holiday chaos to them! Be a part and join in the fun. Take the time to up your online presence by posting fun and exciting things.
    1. Post an office (even if you “office” at home) holiday themed photo and interact with all who enjoy it!
    2. Decorate your desk and show off your holiday spirit! Take a picture or better yet do a live video showing off your specialized décor!
    3. Take time at the beginning of EVERY holiday to say that you recognize the holiday.
  2. Do a holiday giveaway! It sounds simple but it will catch peoples’ eyes. *Just be sure to check on your state regulations regarding giveaways before you start this.*
    1. Advertise that anyone who participates in the activity (in person or virtual dependent upon your business) will be put in for a drawing to win a prize!
    2. Be sure you are SPECIFIC on what they must do in order to get what they receive for doing it!
    3. This is a great time to increase interaction on social media. Run a social holiday giveaway where your audience must post a picture to your page to enter!
  3. It seems outdated but never underestimate a good ‘ole Christmas parade advertisement. They typically do not cost a lot (if any) to join in the parade festivities and most of the town is bound to be there! Often they have a website too – so be sure to ask to be featured! And don’t forget about those Facebook events!
  4. Hold a holiday open house event. ‘Tis the season that people LOVE to interact with one another. Hold a holiday party, invite your employees, invite your investors, invite your audience!

And if all of these don’t work, then take this time to plan. Plan for your next marketing quarter and plan for it to be the best one yet! You can never be too prepared for the beginning of a new year!
